Dreams of a Jewelry Maker

Vintaj Eternity

Every jeweler has his/her favorite metal to work with.  I started out using silver plated metal and just being thrilled that I was able to bend and loop the metal the way I wanted it to bend and loop!  So, then I discovered sterling silver.  Just when I started getting used to the idea of spending a little extra money on a higher quality metal....I found a new favorite metal. It's called Vintaj natural brass, and I love it!

Apple Blossoms

See, isn't it lovely? It has this antiqued look but still appears fresh and modern. And I love the story of how Vintaj came about. You can read more about it here .  But essentially, it started as a dream that 3 women had, working together as artisans to inspire others to reach for their dreams.

Buried Treasure
So I have grand dreams of making loads of new pieces using natural brass metals, but it all takes time.  And with my boys home in the summer, that's my life right now.  I wouldn't have it any other way though.  But stay tuned, and look for more of the lovely Vintaj inspired pieces in fall.  In the meantime, I'll be laying awake at night dreaming of what to make next...

Daunting, This Task of Writing My First Post

Welcome to my blog!

I'm guessing that's the way everyone starts a new blog, but really and truly, I want to welcome you and express how much I appreciate you taking the time to read this first post. I'm a little nervous...really, why WOULD you read my blog? You have plenty of other things you probably should be doing right now! So I'm grateful you've joined me for the moment.

That's me, by the way...trying to take a picture of myself without it looking like I'm taking a picture of myself.

My boys were all excited to find out that I'm starting a blog, but I told them that it won't be a blog like my friend Amy's (here is where if I knew how to do it, I would insert a handy dandy little link to her blog...but you can find it on my sidebar - "Life & Times of the Shrock 5") or like another friend Anneliese's blog foreverythingaseason.blogspot.com. Hey, would you look at that? I figured out how to add a link!

Anyway this blog will mostly be an extension of my online business, which consists of handcrafted jewelry creations. My hope is to connect with other artisans in this way, to share some of my recent creations with you, and to spotlight my customers.

Thanks again for joining me for this initial post (so glad that it's done). I am always the worst at starting something, but usually once I've started, it's smooth sailing.
